Following the success of the 2001 Census product, Navigate is pleased to announce the release of the ArcCensus 2006 Desktop and ArcCensus 2006 Server products for ESRI technology users.

Like ArcCensus 2001, ArcCensus 2006 is an ArcGIS extension that is managed from its own toolbar. The functional specifications have been designed in consultation with demographers and users from our public sector and private enterprise clients.

ArcCensus 2006 enables you to build a new layer of census information from selected census attributes combined with standard or user-specified polygon sets. The census layer can then be integrated with all your existing spatial data and manipulated with standard ArcGIS functionality. The User Manual for ArcCensus 2006 is available here....

Key features of ArcCensus 2006 are:

a) Flexible geographic selection capability. Select from standard ABS geographic boundaries or choose your organisation’s own customised boundaries.

b) Aggregate CD level statistics to custom polygons by using CD centres or by proportioning each intersecting fraction according to its percentage of the total area.

c) Intuitively find and select census statistics columns to be attributed to your geography.

d) Select a range of ABS data cells across several census tables.

e) Create your own statistical columns using formulae based on the selected census cells including area.

f) Store both geographic selections and census data set definitions, including calculated cells, as metadata. This allows the same census field set to be defined once and used with many different geography sets or to use the same geography set for multiple census data extracts.

g) Generate reports from the data in your new layers. These can be printed or imported into other office applications for further analysis and formatting.

ArcCensus 2006 takes advantage of the fact that ArcGIS users already have access to powerful GIS capabilities. There is no need to pay extra for unnecessary GIS licenses. All you need is the ArcGIS extension software, the documentation and the data.

ArcCensus 2006 Desktop  includes an ArcGIS 9.2 extension and data repository of file based geodatabases that contain spatial and statistical data from the 2006 Census. The desktop product enables ESRI users to manage and analyse data from the ABS 2006 Census of Population and Housing.  Cost of a single user licence is A$3200.00 ex GST. To order the product, download the licence, complete and fax to 61-2 9436 3870 with a Purchase Order. An annual  maintenance program is available to manage advances in the underlying ESRI technology. ArcCensus 2006 Desktop is available in a concurrent user licensed mode if needed.

ArcCensus 2006 Desktop includes the Basic Community Profile (BCP). Other Census 2006 Datapacks (eg Time Series, Working Population, Indigenous) will also be made available as costed additions are as they are released.
