History

NAVIGATE is an Australian based Spatial Systems Integrator and GeoSpatial Data supplier that offers services and data to assist in system integration, customisation and all other tasks throughout the spatial system lifecycle. We can offer staff skilled in GIS implementation, integration, customisation, user interface creation and applications development.

Our business focus has been on developing a resource for corporate GIS consulting with the provision of the following core skills:

Our work includes core technology training, the geospatial database design, modeling and development, development of web based delivery applications together with PDA based systems using commercially available technologies. This work can be undertaken on the client site or on GIS Lab equipment in our office.

Our affiliated organisation Spatial Training Pty Ltd, has now been incorporated into Navigate and we provide core Oracle Spatial and FME GIS training and can create user courseware that uses your data and operations inside the course structure..

NAVIGATE has a number of specialist and technical skills that, coupled with our collection of software technology, provides an effective resource to the Australasian spatial industry clientele.

Large Scale GeoSpatial Databases

NAVIGATE has been applying database technologies to geospatial data for many years. We have implemented Oracle, Oracle Spatial, IBM DB2, SQL Server and ArcSDE based solutions. In house we have applications running on our web site using both Oracle Spatial and SDE for Oracle.

Spatial Data Provision and Marketing

NAVIGATE has established relationships with the major wholesalers of geospatial data: a) Public Sector Mapping Agencies (PSMA), b) the Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS) c) Navteq (NavStreets) d) Acxiom and e) Pacific MicroMarketing. We are therefore able to use these national scale data sets for client systems as required.

Spatial Data Conversion

With our in house GIS platforms, NAVIGATE has the ability to first perform the spatial data transformation and then subsequently create correctly structured spatial databases for clients. We can therefore translate data and create the spatial databases as required by the client. Further value may be added by linking to aspatial structures and applying correct symbology.

Panel Contracts

NAVIGATE is a signatory to a number of Federal and State Government panel contracts, thus enabling clients to more simply acquire our services as needed. We have gained the status of a Federal Government Endorsed Supplier which has evolved into a standing contract with DOFA CITC. It is therefore easier for Federal Government clients to acquire our services. NAVIGATE is on the NSW State Government Supply Contracts IT864 and ITS2036. We are signatories to the NSW GITC

Defence

NAVIGATE is also part of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP). We have cleared staff and several assignments in this highly specialised and secure area.

Government Land Information Systems

Since inception we have been fortunate enough to work for The Department of Conservation and Land Management (C&LM), the NSW State Land Information Council Directorate (SLIC), NSW State Rail, The NSW Land Information Centre, PlanningNSW, Sydney Water, Victorian Department of NRE, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Queensland Transport and EnergyAustralia, to name a few.

We are therefore very familiar with Government land management agencies and their databases, both spatial and tabular.

Local Authority and Utility Experience

NAVIGATE has been engaged by many local authorities. Our business in this sector is growing. We have clients in both utility and Council organisations and we find that our contracts are often extended as we perform well and develop an effective relationship with these clients.
