NAVIGATE is an approved reseller,
trainer and support agent of the
SAFE FME software suite. FME® is an easy to use, general purpose spatial data
translator.
If you need to quickly move data from one GIS system
to another, There are a variety of FME® products to meet your needs. FME
Desktop is the entry level product. Other products have all the functionality
of FME Desktop plus additional functionality. The range include FME for ESRi
and FME for Smallworld.
FME® is the gateway in and out of spatial database
systems If you are setting up a spatial database, you’ll need to load your
existing data into it. Support of ESRI’s SDE and other high-end GIS packages
(Oracle Spatial) greatly simplifies this process.
FME® is a semantic translator The OpenGIS®
specification describes a semantic translator as a key part of any attempt to
interoperate with spatial data. A semantic translator allows changes to data
models to be accomplished during translation.
Coupled with FME® are reading, writing and processing
modules developed by Safe Software and third party companies enabling the FME®
semantic processing capability to be extended to move between a wide variety of
GIS formats. FME®’s powerful functions, factories, and scripting language can
be used to transform your input data into the most convenient representation in
your output format.
In addition, a wide variety of traditional GIS
operations can be performed by FME®, and in many cases, more efficiently than
with GIS packages. Operations such as coordinate system (projection)
conversion, overlay, intersection, polygon formation, attribute merging, and
more can be scripted and run efficiently. Input and output formats can be any
of those support, and they may even be the same GIS package.
