Processed Census 2006 Database
Products
NAVIGATE are continuing
our 10 year reseller relationship with the Australian Bureau of Statistics with
the creation of processed, Census 2006 Database Products from the
complex file structure currently delivered by the ABS.
The ABS now
employs a policy
of distributing most of their data products for the cost of extraction of the
information and media. Navigate has acquired the recently released Census
2006 data and are able to confirm that the 2006
Basic Community Profile (BCP) Datapack and associated geography is delivered in over
8000
spatial and non-spatial files. As a result, extensive time and effort is needed
to coalesce these files into a standard spatial and non-spatial database
structure.
For those organisations
and users who want to save the time and effort needed to build their own data
structures from this raw information, Navigate has created a national database
repository of the joined geographies and BCP tables and are able to offer them
in most of the the geospatial database and systems formats available today. These include
joined SHAPE and TAB files and also ESRI geodatabases and Oracle Spatial
structures.
A
Time Series Profile (TSP)
is also available now and as further
profiles are released, we will be building the appropriate repositories and
making them available

enterprise environments,
